Confirming cash on delivery orders is the easiest way for brands to prevent fake/ fraudulent and dummy orders from your store. By confirming the intent to buy with customers, store owners reduce their return to origin (RTO) costs substantially.
Who is it for?
The app works only for stores with an Indian business address. Stores must also ship to India, and accept payments in INR (in addition to other countries or currencies it may support). COD confirmation messages are sent only to Indian numbers. This is done to minimise RTOs since delivery drivers usually call customers for their delivery and will not be able to reach customers with foreign contact numbers.
How does it work?
- When your customer checks out using COD as their preferred payment method, an order confirmation pop-up is shown to them right after they check-out (as an overlay on the order status page)
- Once they choose to verify their order via Whatsapp, a Whatsapp message is sent to them with a link to either confirm or cancel their order (Customers can choose to verify via Whatsapp or SMS).
- Orders are marked confirmed/ cancelled/ pending depending on the customer's response.
- The status of the COD confirmation is visible on the "Orders" tab on your Shopify dashboard – so that you do not have to open another app/ page for order confirmation status of each of your COD orders.
How is Whatsapp better than SMS or Automated Calls?
- Due to ever-changing regulations around SMS sent by companies, the delivery of SMS has been unreliable. Remember the times you had to wait for that OTP SMS? We don't want that to happen to your customers.
- Automated calls/ IVRs are no different. They are unreliable and annoying. Poor cellular connectivity, missed calls, the accent of the speaker, and unintentional key presses, lead to failed confirmation for genuine buyers.
- Whatsapp's delivery is unbeaten. Your customers can verify their order whenever they wish to, ensuring higher confirmations and more sales.
